Dabblings in the Finer Arts
I’m not a poet by nature. That’s my way of saying that outside of William Carlos Williams, I don’t think anyone really has Free Verse down to anything special. I like rhythm and rhyme, and that makes me hopelessly old fashioned. Outside of a few parodies and songs, I don’t write poetry. But this is what I have.
Poems for Fun
These two are silly, but I find them fun. I got to sing “Bemidji by Mornin’” once in front of a mostly drunk crowd, a great experience to have.
I Speak for the Trees, one of my adaptations for the real estate world.
Bemidji by Mornin’, a rank parody of a great country classic.
Songs
I like to dabble in music, but the only things that seem to be finished into songs are for women or a real sense of anger. Go figger. It’s not my area, but I love it all the same. Each of these pages will open a midi song that plays an electronic arrangement from the excellent NoteWorthy Composer. If you like to dabble in music, you must get it!
The Plague on Wheels, a fun song based on a Kurt Vonnegut / Kilgore Trout book.
Sunday Night, a short piece to say goodbye to my first wife when she asked for a divorce.
For Ellen, my attempt at being as elegant and mysterious as someone I know.
There are more pieces, but these are the ones ready for display.
Inspiration
As a lover of ancient music, most of the music I am inspired by is in the public domain. I will put up here from time to time some of the works that inspire me.
More as I get around to it
